The Supreme Court slammed the Centre and states over chronic delay in appointing Information Commissioners to decide Citizen’s rights under the Right to Information Act, 2005. The court pointed over unfilled vacancies and pending appeals. It directed the Chief secretaries to file compliance reports. The Top Court also directed the Dept. Of personnel and training to file an affidavit in two weeks specifying timelines for completion of the processes.
