The Apex Court said that no religion encourages polluting activities like bursting crackers. These activities violates fundamental right to health of citizens under Article 21 of Indian Constitution. On the court’s question of perpetual, year-long ban on the sale and bursting of firecrackers, the Delhi govt. appeared non-committal, saying it had to consult with stakeholders. The Court gave the govt. time till November 25 to take the final decision. It further directed that there would be no sale or manufacture of firecrackers, including through the online marketing platforms.
