The Apex Court pulled up U.P government for an illegal demolition and also issued directions to all the states and union territories on the procedure to be followed during road widening and removal of encroachments. SC criticized U.P govt. and said demolitions can’t be done overnight. The Court also said that the states must issue notice to the encroacher to remove it.
