Bangladesh Court rules upheld previous judgement on removal of judges

The Supreme Court of Bangladesh upheld its previous ruling that declared the power of Parliament to remove judges as illegal. The Court stated that Supreme Judicial Council has the authority to investigate allegations of judicial misconduct. The verdict, thus, scrapped 16th constitutional amendment in Bangladesh Constitution that transferred the power to impeach judges from Supreme Judicial council to Parliament.
