CJI D. Y. Chandrachud said that introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST) was a classic example of cooperative federalism while he was speaking on ‘Understanding Federalism and Potential’ at the inauguration of annual lecture series organized by the Marathi daily Loksatta. He also said that federalism, for Indians, is not a monolithic concept but has multiple facets. Cooperative federalism is as system of governance where the state and centre work together to “iron out differences to achieve the common goal of development”, he added.
