Laws regulating minority institutions does not breach secularism

The Apex Court made an oral observation while hearing a challenged decision of high court to strike down the UP Madrasa Education Act,2004. The court observed that laws regulating minority institution does not breach secularism. CJI added that State had a right to legislate for improving the excellence of government aided minority-run institution. He also referred to another Act in the same context, The Hindu Religious Endowments and Charitable Institutions Act which regulated administration of religious institutions
